Visiting R 64 17

Yes, there is a lot to see in this quadrant. For sure, there are more ruins to visit (especially Aggstein Castle) and more churches to see. But what impressed me here the most is the force of nature.

Sometimes you will drive along steep areas and you will see those signs that say “caution: falling rocks”. How do you adjust your driving? Can you even adjust your driving? I think at most you might look out for rocks on the road. Would you be able to see any rocks coming down?

Beginning of June, just 2 weeks before my trip, a huge landslide blocked one of the main roads along the Danube.

Nobody was injured even though it happened during the day. It seems like shortly before the road had already been closed because of some rocks hitting the street before the big drop came.

There is a video from somebody right next to the slide when it happened. You can hear the rumbling before the rocks come. It sounds so scary.

So, let’s continue to hope for the best that we will never face one of those incidents.
